Wrapping Up a Powerful Infrastructure Week
Friends and partners,
As we bring another Infrastructure Week to a close, I am feeling a sense of optimism and hope for what comes next. Over the course of the last five days, United for Infrastructure has convened, organized, participated in, and attended dozens of events, conversations, and presentations from stakeholders and practitioners across industry and the ideological spectrum — Republicans and Democrats, local and state officials, private sector and public sector. All of them are committed to the hard work of building a stronger America.
At each event, in every conversation, infrastructure stakeholders commended House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee leadership for carving a bipartisan path and keeping our nation’s transportation infrastructure moving forward. We are grateful to House members for voting yesterday to move the BUILD America 250 Act out of committee and look forward to ongoing opportunities engage with Congress around our core priorities:
Sustained and robust infrastructure investment
A solvent Highway Trust Fund
Permitting reform and streamlined approvals processes
Strong investments in workforce, innovation, and resilience
Through our Building a Stronger America campaign, we will continue to amplify the voices and experiences of leaders who know firsthand how infrastructure investments strengthen communities and support economic growth.
And, while our eyes are rightly fixed on the BUILD America 250 Act, we cannot and must not lose sight of the other critical infrastructure sectors that make up our built environment. Our transmission lines and grid infrastructure. Our broadband and fiber systems. Our stormwater drainage systems, wastewater treatment centers, and drinking water infrastructure. Each of these networks keep our country functioning and our communities safe and healthy; our nation’s economic competitiveness depends on them.
As Congressional leaders reminded us, while it may be national Infrastructure Week this week, every week is Infrastructure Week. United for Infrastructure’s work continues.
We’re honored to have you with us,
Ross van Dongen
